Born in Eldoret, Kenya in East Africa, I was raised with a keen appreciation for art.
My Grandfather, Cecil St. Vincent Cripps, a watercolour artist, used pen and ink and watercolour to draw and paint the local people and the surrounding land-scapes. He was particularly interested in painting Kenyan butterflies.
In my early twenties I traveled and lived in both the UK and Europe. I eventually settled in South Africa, married and had two children.
I began to paint in the early ' 80s and joined many South African art groups. I was a member of the Cape Town Watercolour Society and took lessons from well-known local artists Cherry Nichols and Ann Lee.
After re-marrying, I moved to Australia, arriving in Brisbane in 1994 and joined the David Fowler Group in Rosalie. I studied under tutors Don Hamilton for 3-years and Michele Retschlag of the Wellers Hill Art Group from 1995. I have exhibited widely through the Artist Guild of Australia [Qld] and am a member of the Watercolour Society of Queensland and the Clifton Hill Art Group.
My other interests include Calligraphy and Fabric Painting.
